I would think about it if offered, I also know a couple of friends with little or no ties. I don't think that anyone would object, and even if they did, if the pay is good, who knows. I'm surprised NASA hasn't done the same, or some smaller books leaving, asking the same question. If I were to leave, who's going with me.

I was just discussing this topic with a few guys here in the shop. Panama is o.k. but very restricting to bookies. The banking systems are all open to U.S. scrutiny. It's very dangerous. I know a couple of smaller books are going to take their chances. No licensing to operate a company to people who have a record and I don't know the parameters for obtaining licenses there.

Legendz Sports International (www.betthelegend.com) more commonly known as MVP Sports International (www.playmvp.com) the parent company for Beverly Hills Bookie (www.gotbookie.com) will be the first sportsbook to open their doors in Panama right before this year’s All Star Game. There are three front ends stores under the Legendz Gaming Corporation umbrella (all mentioned above). Who was licensed first is a mystery. Bet PanAm and Legendz, from here on referred to as LGC, have both been accepted and issued licenses in Panama and as far as our source knows will be the only two companies operating there for this football season. A company named Cyber Gaming holds the Master License for at least the next two years and they are the only people qualified by the government to conduct due diligence and offer sub-licensed contracts to perspective suitors. The government wants to avoid the industries ‘cowboys’ or not so reputable companies. You can plan on seeing other reputable Costa Rican sportsbooks following LGC to Panama once they see what the country has to offer. Start up, fly by night operations however will never be able to exist under the Panamanian law.
People on the Panamanian Gambling Control Board contacted Legendz after several industry advisors referred to their company as the most reputable. The people behind the scenes at LGC have built an impeccable reputation in the industry for speedy payouts and phenomenal customer service. The LGC office is getting its final touch ups and as soon as it is finished I have an open invitation to come down for a visit. Their office in Costa Rica was one of the nicest so I’m sure they left nothing to be desired with their new operation in Panama.

Dell Computers figured this out last year and has moved a majority of its operation to Panama. In addition, the labor pool is full of bilingual people from the financial district and many years of US influence in the region.
Many of you may have not heard of Legendz as they just launched the unveiling of their new name last October. They wanted to focus on their own identity as to not get their MVP confused with MVPBETS or MVP Sportsbook. This is a company that has done very little marketing but stood the test of times as we have all watched companies come and go. Panama has been almost like America’s 51st state. Its relationship has been that close. The United States has wielded tremendous influence in Panama. So how hard do you think the Panamanian government is going to fight if the U.S. wants to extradite someone?

Unlike Costa Rica and Antigua, which need sports books pumping money into their respective countries, Panama has other things to stimulate its economy. This not only includes its banking industries, but the Panama Canal, which generates huge revenue.
Some are upset that the Costa Rican government has chosen to impose a tax on bookmaking operations. What's to stop Panama from doing something similar?
Like many Latin American countries, Panama has a corrupt government and an unstable political climate. If a Panama migration occurs of, let's say, 15 to 35 sports books in the next couple of years, it would be an upset if the government in Panama didn't take notice no matter who was in political power.
Of course, this wouldn't escape the attention of the U.S. government either. If the U.S. wants someone bad enough in Panama they'll get him. General Manuel Noriega can attest to that.
With the U.S. government's rabid anti-Internet betting stance, and an overzealous attorney general John Ashcroft in power, American bookmakers setting up shop in Panama have to sweat bullets knowing the U.S. could reach in and grab them in a heartbeat.

While I've never been to Panama, your post surprises me. First of all I've never heard anything positive about living in Panama, not even from my brother in law that's half Panamanian and was raised part of his childhood there. He says he would never live their and also hates the fact that his retired parents had to move back there because the cost of living had gotten too high in Costa Rica. Right now he can't wait for his younger sister to to graduate from high school and get her out of Panama.
Another thing I've always heard is that there's much more poverty than Costa Rica and that there's more violent crime.
As far as the language barrior, the rumors I've heard are that Panama has fewer English speakers than Costa Rica and clerks will have to be imported.
Lastly I have been very close to Panama in a part of C.R. called Palmar Norte, it was a couple degrees cooler than hell there. The locals in that area said it just gets hotter the closer you get to Panama.
Personally I dread the idea of having to go there.

Secondly I placed wat was written on the front page of the rx for people to read. Thirdly, I haven't been to Panama (yet) but I know Panamanians here and in the States. Now, if it was so great there why would they want to leave? With that in mind if it was so great here why would there be so many ticos tryiong to leave as well. And with that in mind, if you had a book, and the gov. was trying to charge you a yearly fee, say $60,000 or so, wouldn't give you a license to operate but charges you anyway, and on top of it, charges you higher prices for internet and other services than in the States, what would you do? Then look at the options North, and South.
